#5 Clement Lenglet

The French international joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2018 for a sizeable fee of 35 million euros. The 26-year-old was supposed to be one of the best center-backs that France had to offer alongside Samuel Umtiti and Barca’s plan was to play the two together in order to find perfect harmony and rhythm. However, with the injury of Umtiti, Lenglet had to play alongside Gerard Pique and it is safe to say that the French man has always been in the shadow of his Spanish teammate.

Lenglet has failed to deliver in important matches and he just does not have the consistency of a Barca center-back. When we think of the Catalan stoppers, we think of Carles Puyol, Ronald Koeman, etc. Their no-nonsense, solid defensive style has not been emulated by Lenglet and he becomes a liability during matches. Last season, Araujo was out playing the 26-year-old which begs us to ask this question, is Lenglet needed at the club anymore? The answer should be, no.

He can be sold off for a decent price right now, as the player has just entered his prime. Even if the Catalans do not break even on the player, they should get rid of him as he will not be a key player next season and they have already brought in Eric Garcia as a replacement.
