#3 Eric Garcia

One of the new players whom Barcelona signed this season, also happens to be a former La Masia graduate. Eric Garcia has played alongside the likes of Ansu Fati and Ilaix Moriba in the academy however, for him the process was too slow. He moved across countries, all the way to Manchester City, in order to get more game time. He was initially not given many chances by Pep Guardiola as the coach likes to develop the youngsters before he tries them on the pitch. In the 2020/21 season, Guardiola started using him a bit after Aymeric Laporte was injured.

However, the arrival of Ruben Diaz was a huge hit for Garcia as this meant that he was once again sent back to the bench. Nathan Ake was another competition brought in by Pep and this was the final straw for the Spaniard, who then began to ask for a move back to his old club. Barca did try to buy him last season however, City was not ready to let him go and Pep was convinced that he could persuade the player to stay.

According to the City manager, Garcia has a great set of skills and his potential is very high. These are strong words from one of the best coaches in the world; however, Garcia’s mind was set on a return. Barca has finally signed the player on a free transfer and he should be one of the most exciting prospects for the next season. He was highly praised by Pep and no one should take his words lightly, thus, Garcia will definitely be one to look out for next season.
