Neymar’s message to Lionel Messi after Copa America defeat
While the Copa America finals was a brilliant match for Lionel Messi and Argentina supporters, it was a horrendous night for the Brazilian fans who thought that they would be able to successfully defend the trophy. We saw joy on the faces of the Argentine players, and tears in the eyes of the Brazilians. Yes, football gives us brilliant moments but it also breaks hearts for the losing side.

The Argentina Vs Brazil match was always going to be a spectacle, add to that the excitement of Lionel Messi Vs Neymar and the chance for Messi to secure his first major international title. It was a blockbuster of a match where Brazil did dominate Argentina but out of pure blood, sweat, and tears, the Argentines prevailed and defeated Brazil in their own backyard.
It was a moment of pure joy for Lionel Messi and it would have been fine for him to get carried away in the moment however, Messi is a caring person, and he knows the pain of losing. He went to one of his best friends and former teammate, Neymar, and held him in a long and powerful embrace to console him. Neymar was later seen smiling with his former teammate, visibly happy for his friend’s first victory however, later he did clarify that he was hurting inside.
In a post uploaded on Instagram, showing the two embracing, Neymar wrote about how he has always been a competitive person and how he hates losing. He said that loss hurt him a lot however, he had to congratulate his friend on the win, as Messi had a lot of impact on him as a player. He wrote,
"Losing hurts me, it hurts me… it’s something I still haven’t learned to live with.Yesterday when I lost, I went to give a hug to the biggest and best in history that I saw playing. My friend and brother MESSI, I was sad and I told him “you beat me ” I am very sad for having lost. But this guy is awesome! I have great respect for what he has done for football and especially for me.I HATE TO LOSE!!!! But enjoy your title, football was waiting for you for that moment! Congratulations Brother"
Neymar’s immediate congratulations to Messi showed the footballing world that even though clubs may change, the relationship remains. The two share a very strong bond that cannot be broken by the fact that the Brazilian chose to move to Paris Saint-Germain. The two sitting together and smiling after the game is an image that shows us that life is bigger than the game and it is not always about winning or losing.
Lionel Messi wins his first international trophy
Messi on the other hand won his first-ever international trophy but still thought about the feelings of other players. He even stopped a fellow teammate, Rodrigo De Paul from singing a chant which was mocking the Brazilians. This goes on to show what a pure human being Messi truly is and we cannot wait to see what he brings to the World Cup next year.
