Barcelona teen sensation Pedri was awarded ‘Best Youth of Euro 2020’
Barcelona youngster Pedri Gonzalez Lopez has been voted as the best young player of the tournament for the UEFA Euro 2020 campaign. The midfielder made it to the competition’s semi-finals where his nation Spain lost to Italy and that was the end of their journey. However, the young Barcelona man did not fail to disappoint. He was easily one of the best midfielders in the whole tournament and most certainly the best young player.
Pedri is currently 18 years old but when he is on the ball, when he is making passes and decisions, it does not look like he’s 18, he looks like a very mature and developed footballer. He has already been compared to the likes of Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez. If the youngster keeps these kinds of performances up on a regular basis, he’s definitely going to grow up and be one of the best Spaniards of all time.
Barcelona’s Pedri had phenomenal stats in Euros
The youngster played a total of 692 minutes in the whole campaign where he recorded a pass accuracy of 92.6 percent. He also recorded a total distance of 76.1 kilometers which is the total amount of distance he covered in all of the games.

No one has to reassure that for an 18-year-old who has just had one year of proper top-flight football, those numbers are not just brilliant but extremely special. The player is too special and will definitely be a vital part of the Catalan squad for years to come.
To watch the young midfielder link up with the likes of Koke, Sergio Busquets, Rodri, Thiago, and Torres, one could completely see his maturity on the ball. For such a young kid to make such natural moves on the pitch to progress the whole team’s play was special to witness.
As of now, Pedri has been selected for the Tokyo Olympics this year and he will most probably be representing his nation there too. Barcelona have an absolute gem on their hands. Talent-wise he is generational, however, a lot of hard work, consistency, and longevity are required to keep these kinds of performances up at the topmost level.
