Not only was his performance good news for Denmark, it was also good news for the Catalan giants.

Barcelona hoping to finalize a move sooner rather than later

According to Sport, the Danish striker has finally opened the door to a possible move away. The club was hoping he would increase his value during Euro 2020 and he has. He was a starter for a Denmark side that made it all the way to the semifinals.

His future seems to point to the English Premier League with clubs like West Ham, Brighton and Norwich are interested. The club expects to receive €15 million for Braithwaite and recuperate nearly all of what they paid to sign him from Leganes.

There were offers for him during the winter transfer window but he chose to stay.

However, despite the club’s intentions, Braithwaite still holds the cards with regard to his future.

According to Mundo Deportivo, he is not entirely convinced about leaving Barcelona. As has been reported anytime he’s linked with a move, he wants to fight for a place on the team.

Since he arrived at the club, he’s mostly been used off the bench. He knows his role on the team and he is not on high wages. But Barcelona need to sell in order to find slots for their new signings and stay within the wage limit.

While keeping Braithwaite would not be a financial burden, the club’s preference remains to find him another team. If he stays, he will likely be behind newcomers Memphis Depay and Sergio Agüero in the pecking order.

From his perspective, he may figure that he’ll get an opportunity early in the season given the injuries to Ousmane Dembélé and Ansu Fati,

As it stands, however, Barca are hoping to complete a deal for the transfer of Braithwaite in the coming week.
