Barcelona have reportedly made a decision on what to do with one of their regulars for the next season. Clement Lenglet was brought in from Sevilla in 2018 however, he has not been the center-back that Barca were hoping for. After a successful gamble on Samuel Umtiti two years prior, the Catalans were hoping for another French superstar however, that was not the case and now the Spanish side are trying to get him out of the club.

More from Everything Barca

According to reports from SPORT, the current president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, has identified Leglet as one of the non-essentials for the next season especially after the signing of Eric Garcia from Manchester City. The Catalans already have talented youngsters such as Ronald Araujo and Oscar Mingueza who will be highly involved in the following season, and Gerard Pique can be their mentor.

Thus, the squad has no use for inconsistent performers like Umtiti and Lenglet. Reports suggest that Laporta is trying to loan out the player in case no one goes for a direct sale. The loan would mean that Barca would still be the parent club of the player however, the wages would be shared with the club that he is being loaned to. Apart from that, Laporta will also be adding an obligatory buy-out clause in the contract. This would mean that the club that he will be loaned to must buy the player, if they use him for a certain set number of games.

Clement Lenglet to be used to help with the wage-bill crisis at Barcelona

This is a huge positive for Barca as they are finally cutting down the size of their massive squad. The club must let go of players who are no longer fundamental to their growth or success and Lenglet is certainly not going to be an important presence next season. The sales of these players would also ensure that Barcelona can finally register their new transfers, as well as offer Lionel Messi a new deal.

According to reports, Premier League sides, West Ham and Everton are currently interested in the player however, we are not sure whether they wish to loan the player or buy him on a permanent basis. Other clubs are also interested in the player who has just entered their prime, however, they have not been named by Barcelona as of now.
