Two Premier League giants are reportedly after Barcelona target Saul Niguez. According to Metro UK, it is understood that both Liverpool and Manchester United are willing to cough up 35 million euros in order to land the La Liga champion who has already been so heavily linked to Barcelona.

More from Everything Barca

Multiple sources have suggested that the Blaugrana were willing to return Antoine Griezmann back to Atletico Madrid in order to land Saul Niguez on an exchange deal. This deal would free up a lot of wages at the club and Lionel Messi would be able to extend his stay at the Nou Camp.

However, as of now, Barcelona may not be in for Saul Niguez after negotiations with Atletico failed to reach an agreement. This has resulted in the Spaniard now being linked with a move to the Premier League with the likes of Jurgen Klopp and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer both keen on securing the talented midfielder. Currently, the Catalans no longer are the clear favorites to land the 26-year-old as Atletico refused to pay any additional cash in the proposed Griezmann-Saul swap deal.

The La Liga giants are keen on selling Antoine Griezmann for cheap despite the fact that they paid over 120 million euros to land the Frenchman in the first place. While the French forward has been a key figure in the current squad, his inconsistency along with the current financial situation of the club has resulted in this decision. Griezmann has struggled to replicate his Atletico Madrid performance at the Nou Camp and his former side is willing to welcome him back this summer.

Barcelona face competition for Saul Niguez

Saul has made over 340 appearances for Diego Simeone’s men and despite being a fan-favorite, the club is willing to let him leave for a good price. It looks like he will not be a part of the Argentine’s plans for the club’s future. As of now, Barcelona could really use a figure like Saul in their midfield but the deal is said to be extremely complicated in nature.
