#4 Gonzalo Montiel (Argentina)

Argentina’s Gonzalo Montiel was not a regular at the 2021 CONMEBOL Copa America however, he produced a stunning display of courage and skills when it was required. The 24-year-old right-back, who is currently playing for the Argentine side, River Plate, played only four games for his country in the recent international tournament. He was heavily rotated for Nahuel Molina; however, he took advantage of the time he was given and his brave performance in the finals will never be forgotten.

Although he was rock solid at the back throughout the tournament, his performance in the finals against Brazil was something different. He had to prevent the likes of Neymar and Vinicius Junior from getting into the box and he defended successfully against both of them. Right at the beginning of the game, the player was injured by Real Madrid’s Casemiro and he started bleeding profusely from his ankle.

However, he did not give up and played the full 90 minutes. He was amazing on the pitch, getting nine successful tackles out of 10 on the ground. It is rumored that European clubs are interested in the player however, nothing is certain. It is the perfect time for Barcelona to look into this player as he can be a good competition for Sergino Dest, and the club can finally give the player his first European football experience.
