Sergiño Dest cut his vacation short and returned early to Barcelona in order to get a jump start ahead of next season.
The right-back had a decent debut last season but suffered from a couple of injuries as well as some less than stellar performances in big matches.

The right-back is solely focused on succeeding at Barcelona
Given Barca’s financial mess, it came as no surprise other clubs began wondering about his situation. According to Sport, the American has already rejected three offers to leave Camp Nou. Those offers came from Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, and Monaco.
There were also rumors prior linking Dest with Bayern Munich.
But he has no intention of leaving and wants to improve on his debut season. It was a decent first season considering the jump he was making from Ajax.
Dest came in with lofty expectations considering Barcelona’s tough time in finding a replacement for Dani Alves. They tried with Nelson Semedo but it didn’t end up working out.
Manager Ronald Koeman appears to have a lot of trust in Dest and looks at him as an important part of his side for next season.
The plan is for Dest to be the team’s starting right-back, or at least competing for it with Sergi Roberto and Emerson Royal. His versatility will allow him to see more than enough playing even if it’s not at right-back. He is expected to be the backup for Jordi Alba as the club sold Junior Firpo to Leeds United.
The soon-to-be 21-year-old has plenty of room to grow. A calmer environment should help in that manner. He arrived at a Barca side in complete dysfunction. With a new president in Joan Laporta and Koeman’s continuity, both the player and the club are hoping for an improvement in his sophomore season.
