5 things that Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez will bring to Barcelona
Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez has been around the club all his life; at least that’s how it seems. The Spaniard made it through Atletico’s youth academy and he went on to feature in over 300 top-flight appearances for the club. However, in the last few years, his world-class level may have dropped, solely because he is such as brilliant attacking and forward-minded player, that he is failing to thrive in a defensive system. The same may happen to the likes of Joao Felix who has not yet fully delivered at the club, given his hype. One of the very few attacking players who managed to thrive in such a defensive system was Barcelona’s Antoine Griezmann, he was almost perfect for that team.

Multiple outlets in this summer transfer window have suggested that Saul Niguez is going to head out of the club. While the player has been linked to the likes of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, as of now it looks like the front runners for the midfielder are Barcelona.
Barcelona are reportedly working up a swap deal to send Antoine Griezmann back to the Wanda Metropolitano and land Saul Niguez. The Frenchman makes 800,000 pounds at the club per week which amounts to a total of 45 million per season.
Landing Saul at the Nou Camp would free up a total of 12 million in wages if they were to offload Griezmann. That would be an extremely positive note when it comes to financial matters at the club because the situation is extremely dire. Fabrizio Romano has stated that many players including Lionel Messi have all agreed to take a pay cut in order to help the club manage their books. However, if this deal is to go through, Saul Niguez would be a great addition to Barcelona.
