The contract saga with Ilaix Moriba might be coming to an end soon, as Barcelona has announced that they will not be amending the current offer, as they believe it is a fair and just offer. The club and the player are currently in disagreement on the wages being offered, as Moriba believes that he is being underpaid. However, according to the Catalans, the contract is fair and the deal should be completed. They are unwilling to budge any further, and they are hoping that Moriba realizes the benefits of having a career with arguably one of the biggest clubs in the world.

More from Everything Barca

18-year-old Moriba is a La Masia graduate and worked his way up the ranks rapidly. His growth was one of the fastest in the club’s history, and he very soon made his debut in the first team. He is one of the most talented youngsters in the Barcelona squad at the moment and his skills and flair at this young age shows us that he has the potential to be one of the greatest in the future. However, he still needs to develop his gifts, and he cannot be rushed into the first team, and Barcelona is trying to explain that to him.

At Barca, he will be around familiar faces, and Ronald Koeman is ready to train the talented youngster himself. Given the financial situation of the Blaugrana, the wages cannot be too high; however, players must understand that. Even the club’s captain and legend, Lionel Messi is ready to take a huge wage cut, and thus it is unreasonable for Moriba to refuse a contract solely due to the wages.

The Catalans have made it clear that they are not willing to negotiate anymore, and if they are unable to seal the deal, he will most probably be sold. The player’s contract comes to an end next year, and they will not be wanting to lose him for free. Clubs such as Manchester City and Chelsea are already interested in the player, and Barca will be better off selling the player if he does not want to accept the offered wages. In any case, Moriba should try to understand the pros and cons of staying with the Catalans and then make a decision. However, by staying at Barca, he can have a great future, and he will also get to play regularly with the best player in the world, Messi.
