3. Chelsea

This could probably be the least favoured destination. No doubt Chelsea are a highly successful and ambitious club but Manchester City or PSG might just have better pulling power. Chelsea have an explosive squad with frightening squad depth.

Chelsea are not a conservative club when it comes to spending big over players. Russian Oligarch Roman Abramovich has pumped millions to make Chelsea one of the best teams in Europe.

The Blues of London are chasing Romelu Lukaku but if they actively do show interest in Messi, Chelsea could indeed have a squad capable of challenging Manchester City on all fronts. The Blues have already been linked to Erling Haaland and Lukaku. While a move for Haaland this summer looks unlikely, Thomas Tuchel is now looking to add more firepower to the attack.

Chelsea wants a player who can provide goals. If Chelsea does manage to sign Messi, this would not only be a huge sporting opportunity but also a colossal marketing opportunity. Of course, finances need to be carefully understood but if there’s a chance, Abramovich wont let it slip through Chelsea’s hands.

However, it is looking increasingly likely that PSG are the front runners in Messi’s chase now.
