6) Barcelona Vs Real Zaragoza, 2010 (La Liga)

Another one of Lionel Messi’s amazing solo runs was against Real Zaragoza in the amazing 2009/10 season. Messi was on fire in that season, scoring over 50 goals in all competitions, and this was one of his bests. The Catalans were winning by only one goal at the 65th minute, and they were desperately looking for that second goal. They were being frustrated by the opponents however, the Argentine decided that he would take matters into his own hands.

This was not a goal set up by anyone else, in fact, Messi did all the work to score this goal. He dispossessed one of Zaragoza’s players in the midfield, then avoided a sliding tackle beautifully before spitting towards the box. He then dummied their last defender twice before placing the ball at the bottom right-hand corner. This was a show of Messi’s four footballing skills: awareness, tackling, dribbling, and shooting. It was a perfect goal, and it couldn’t have been any better. Barcelona went on to win the game 4-2.
