Barcelona to hold talks with Fiorentina over Miralem Pjanic
With talks at a standstill between Barcelona and Juventus over Miralem Pjanić, the Catalan side is set for a crucial reunion with another Serie A side for the Bosnian midfielder.
According to Sport, Fiorentina has set their sights on the 31-year-old fully aware of the club’s desire to offload him. His exit is proving to be a more difficult task than anticipated with his wages being the biggest roadblock to overcome.

Fiorentina cannot cover the €6.5 million wages Pjanić is making but are willing to pay him half, which Barcelona are unlikely to accept. The only way they will accept a deal is if Fiorentina agrees to take on at least €4.5 million.
The reunion between the two sides is undoubtedly going to center on his wages. Fiorentina are really keen on acquiring Pjanić and will make every effort to try to make their dream a reality.
Pjanić has been angling for a move as well ever since president Joan Laporta confirmed manager Ronald Koeman was staying on as manager for one more season.
His preferred destination has been Italy and Juventus. That scenario is looking less and less likely and therefore, the player must start considering other opportunities.
Joining Fiorentina would at least mean a move back to Serie A and he would be playing on a club that sees him as an important part of the team. But he has to make an effort as well and realize he must accept a wage cut as he’s pricing himself out of a move.
Fortunately for Pjanić, he seems to have a market in Italy. In addition to Fiorentina, Napoli are also reportedly eyeing a move. According to FootballEspaña, Napoli manager Luciano Spalleti has personally spoken with Pjanić about their sporting project in hopes to convince him to join them.
Whether or not their conversation worked remains to be seen.
What is certain is with only eight days until the close of the transfer window, time is running out for both Barcelona and for Pjanić. If something doesn’t change, then Pjanić is destined to sit out the majority of the season.
