Barcelona are running out of time in their race to move midfielder Miralem Pjanic. They may have just been given a lifeline by fellow LaLiga side Sevilla.

According to Sport, the Andaluz side has reportedly inquired about possibly signing Pjanic on a loan. The caveat being they expect the Catalans to cover a part of his salary.

Pjanic has been the talk of a number of transfer rumors all summer. The consensus was he would eventually go back to Juventus but that scenario has all but closed even with the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Juventus signed Manuel Locatelli and there simply isn’t a spot for Pjanic unless they somehow managed to sell either Adrien Rabiot or Aaron Ramsey.

Other Italian teams like AC Milan, Inter, Napoli and Fiorentina were also rumored to be interested. But with the exceptions of Napoli and Milan, Fiorentina recently reached an agreement on a loan deal for Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira and Inter no longer appear to be interested.

For a deal to happen, Sevilla also need to sell Nemanja Gudelj who is not in Julen Lopetegui’s plans. Barcelona realize they will need to cover part of the Bosnian’s salary and are willing to do so.

Pjanic made the bench in Barcelona’s 2-1 win against Getafe over the weekend. But it’s quite clear he has no place on the team as long as Ronald Koeman is manager.

Like a number of Barça players, the impediment continues to be the high wages. Pjanic was willing to lower his salary if he was to go back to Juventus. It is unknown whether he would do so for Sevilla. In any case, with so little time left in the window, he and the club may be stuck with each other.
