Also, the club did make a last-minute move to add another striker to their ranks as they signed Luuk De Jong from Sevilla on a season-long loan deal. As per the loan deal, the Catalan side will pay the player’s wages and have an option to make the deal permanent.

As per the latest update, the Dutchman has arrived in his home city and has paid a visit to the Ciutat Esportiva. On arrival, the Sevilla loanee had spoken to the club media and had shared his excitement about his move to the Catalan side.

Speaking about his move, he said :

"It’s incredible being a Barça player and it’s amazing to be here. I look forward to doing a lot of big things for this team and I can’t wait to get started."

The former PSV striker also spoke about his role in his new club and talked about his relationship with Ronald Koeman. His words :

"There are lots of different forwards here, but I’m tall and I’m good with my head, I know I won’t play all the time, but I have a good relationship with Koeman from playing for Holland, and he’ll know when he needs a player like me who’s good in the air."

What can De Jong offer to Barcelona?

The 31-year-old forward is a good alternative upfront for someone like Martin Braithwaite. His physical ability coupled with good aerial power makes him an attractive choice for this Barca squad.

However, the Dutchman is likely to remain ‘third choice’ for Koeman as he has two solid attackers in the form of Martin Braithwaite and Sergio Aguero. Hence, the Sevilla loanee will have to make the best use of his opportunities at Camp Nou if he is to establish himself as the first choice for the Blaugrana outfit.
