Without the presence of Messi, Barcelona have looked out depleted upfront and hence are badly missing the services of their club legend. Therefore, it seems that the Catalan side would need more attacking recruits in their present roster to compensate for the departure of their no.10.

On an optimistic note, it is important to point out that Memphis Depay has been excellent so far since his summer switch to Camp Nou. The Dutchman has already looked energetic in the final third and hence also chipped in with a couple of goals in the La Liga. Striker Martin Braithwaite, too, looked sharp in his league outings but for now, it looks like the Dane will have to stay away from first-team football as he had undergone knee surgery this week.

According to a fresh report from Sport, it has been sensationally claimed that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Manchester City‘s Raheem Sterling. Furthermore, this report has added saying that the Catalan side is aiming to bring the Englishman on a loan deal to the club in the upcoming winter transfer window.

At present, Barcelona already have a flurry of attackers in their ranks. But the problem is some of these attackers have either lacked consistency or have been injury-prone, which has in a way affected the team balance in the last couple of years.

Therefore, a winter move for Sterling may not be a bad idea as it will likely add more quality to the present Barca attack. In the ongoing season, the City forward has been unfortunate to have not found a starting spot on Guardiola’s side.

The 26-year-old attacker had a phenomenal time with the Three Lions in the Euro 2020 competition. The Englishman played an instrumental role for his side as he helped the team to reach the finals.

For Barcelona, it will not be easy to negotiate a loan move for Sterling as his current employers may only agree on a permanent deal for their star member. Also, this transfer is dependent on the player himself as to whether he decides to shift base in the middle of a season. This will be a tough transfer for Barcelona and hence at the current moment, it looks unlikely that the club will manage to lure out the forward from Manchester  City.
