Barcelona has opened the door to potentially signing Manchester United midfielder at the end of the season.
According to Sport, president Joan Laporta has spoken with Mino Raiola, Pogba’s agent, to express his interest in his client.
The Frenchman is currently in talks with Manchester United over a contract extension as his current deal runs out next summer.
Barcelona is not going to be the only side interested in Pogba
The fact that he is going to be a free agent should he not sign a new contract with Man United opens up various possibilities.
Barcelona is only one of the teams Pogba could go to. Despite the solid relationship Laporta has with Raiola, negotiations are not going to be easy. The agent himself has come out and linked his player with different sides.
"“Pogba’s contract expires next year,” Raiola said. “We will talk to Manchester (United) and see.“For sure Turin has remained in his heart and he cares a lot about these things. The possibility of returning to Juventus is there but it also depends on Juve.”Source: Sky Sports"
Pogba has been rumored with a move back to Juventus almost from the moment he went back to Man United. He has had an up and down time at Old Trafford with last season being the closest one to a move.
But he has remained in England and has had a good start to the season yet has not lived up to the hype when he first arrived. He’s been questioned heavily when he’s been part of a midfield two.
Regardless, he is going to be highly coveted player should he enter the market next summer.
Barcelona find themselves in a similar boat to Juventus where they probably need to sell a player or two before they can make a run at Pogba. Not only would they need to to raise enough funds but to find room for the midfielder.
The Catalans have an array of talent in that area and still need to move on a number of players to reduce the wage bill. Sergi Roberto, a fringe player who is about to sign an extension, is clamoring for a permanent move back to midfield.
All this speculation depends on what Pogba wants. He remains open to extending his stay in Manchester and if he does put pen to paper, then the likes of Barcelona and Juventus will simply be left with hands in their pockets.
