Barcelona were able to return to winning ways on Sunday as they defeated Levante 3-0 at the Camp Nou. After a frustrating goalless draw against Cadiz, the Catalans were able to find the net against Paco Lopez’s men. Memphis Depay, Luuk De Jong, and Ansu Fati were on the scoresheet and hence the hosts were able to pick up three points in this vital league fixture at home.

Barcelona start the first half with a brace

On Sunday, the Blaugrana outfit were off to a brilliant start as they opened the scoring within the first minutes of the game. In the sixth minute, Memphis Depay converted from the spot after he was taken down by a poor challenge by Radoja. Luuk De Jong, too, joined his countryman on the scoresheet as he was set up by a clean pass by Sergino Dest, which he slotted into the bottom left corner of the net.

On the other hand, the visitors had no response to the first two goals and were unable to stitch proper chances in their attacking half. Depay was almost on his way to score his second of the night but was bravely denied by  Aitor Fernandez.

Barcelona keep Levante on toes in the second half

In the second half of the game, Barcelona continued their dominance as they were a constant threat for the visitors. Coutinho and Luuk De Jong played a decent role in the attacking third as they were desperate to add a third goal.

Ansu Fati was the biggest highlight of the second half

For the Catalan side, their biggest positive from this game was the return of Ansu Fati. The teenager was brought on to play in the final quarter of the game and was given a huge round of applause by the home fans upon his return to the side. The Spaniard made his comeback in style as he scored the final goal of the game.

This was a much-needed victory for Barcelona

For the past two weeks,  the Blaugrana outfit had a rough time on the pitch as they remained winless in their last three games. But on Sunday, the hosts made sure that they bagged all three points at their home turf in order to improve their standing in the league table. Barcelona have now jumped up two places in the points table and hence are now sitting fifth in their ongoing La Liga campaign.
