Gavi (Spain)

One of the more unusual call-ups was for Barcelona youngster Gavi. Pablo Martín Páez Gavira, better known as just Gavi, is tipped to be the next big thing for Barcelona. He has been hailed by the coaches of the youth academy to be one of the best technical players they have ever seen, and his hyper-competitive nature has allowed him to make it through to the first team of the Blaugrana and the Spanish national team at the age of only 20. He is a demanding player who wants to make a difference for the team and he has the capability to make it to the highest levels of individual awards.

He has been the talk of Barcelona even before he started out on the main team. The player has amazing awareness and game sense which makes him a good candidate for the Catalans. Being compared to the likes of Messi is not a small thing and then starting for a prestigious club like Barca at such a young age is an even bigger thing. He has been given the prestigious number nin shirt by Enrique and the former Catalan manager wants to see the progression of his former players.

This should be a good opportunity for Gavi to establish himself, as he has not been able to put much of an impact on the first team yet. He has been very involved and enthusiastic however, he has only registered one assist as of now. He is a talented player no doubt, but he needs to put in a bit more effort to continue at the top level. A change of pace via international football will be good for him and he can then start fresh at Barcelona. Enrique might give him the start against Italy and that will be a top-level game for him to show his worth.
