Barcelona could add another striker to their roster in January
By Zoheb Alam
In the present day, Barcelona have tons of options in their attacking department as they have the services of Memphis Depay, Sergio Aguero, and a loaned striker from Sevilla in the form of Luuk De Jong. But at the same time, the Blaugrana outfit have had to bid farewell to some of their key forwards as club legend Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann made their way out of the Camp Nou in the recent summer window.
Well, Ronald Koeman’s side might just be able to add another striker to their roster. As per reports from Catalunya Radio, it has been claimed that the La Liga giants could sign Divock Origi from Liverpool this January. This report has also said that the player’s agents have personally contacted the Catalans in a bid to ship their client to Spain
Origi,26, has been Klopp’s “second choice” forward for a long time, and therefore he hasn’t been unable to gather enough game-time in the Reds shirt. In the ongoing season, the Belgian has been handed only four appearances with a total game-time of just 157 minutes.
Currently, the Liverpool forward has a contract at Anfield which is due to expire in June 2022. Also, there are high chances are that the English outfit will likely refrain from handing a new deal to their ‘out of favor’ striker next summer.
Will Barcelona add another striker to their pool?
In all likelihood, Barcelona will not make a move for Origi in the winter transfer window. Keeping in mind the fact that the Catalans already have an ample amount of forwards in their squad, there is a slim chance that the club might sign the Belgian international in January.
For now, it looks like Origi is set to stay at Anfield till the end of this season. Also, if Barca opt to sign a striker in January, there is a high possibility that the team will target a high-profile name and hence will turn to more active options in the transfer market.
Will Origi make his way to Camp Nou this winter?
