Recently, Barcelona has been the club on the internet the most. This is because the giants have let go of their previous manager, Ronald Koeman, and are finally bringing in the man whom every fan wants. This man, who is also one of the greatest to have ever played the game, is Xavi Hernandez. Hernandez is undoubtedly one of the biggest legends of the game and of Barcelona. The Catalan fans have been asking for Xavi to manage the team for a long time however since the Spanish midfielder never managed a European team before, the Barca board were understandably wary of the young manager.

After his long and illustrious career with the Blaugrana, Xavi was approached by the Qatar side, Al Sadd SC. The former Catalan midfielder played for the middle-eastern team from 2015 to 2019. However, even after he stopped playing for the side, he started managing the side and this was a brilliant decision. Not only would he gain valuable lessons but there would also be no pressure from European football. Xavi did some amazing job with the club and he has already won them three domestic trophies. However, when the Barca job came knocking at the door, everyone knew that he would accept it.

Now it seems as if that will not be so easy. The former Barca player’s contract runs till the end of the season and the way he has been coaching Al Sadd, their owners will not be looking to let him go. In an official statement from the Asian side, the club said that Xavi is one hundred percent committed to Al Sadd and that he will complete his contract with the club.

Both the clubs involved in this situation are giving conflicting statements; however, for now, Xavi is still employed with Al Sadd. While it is true that the legend will end up at Barcelona sooner or later, it might not be as soon as the fans might have expected.
