Lionel Messi admits that he would love to be back at Barcelona
Even though Lionel Messi left Barcelona at the beginning of the season, it seems like the player and the club cannot stay away from each other. Whereas a lot has been said by Joan Laporta and La Liga’s president about Messi’s departure, Messi has always stated that he would love to be back at the club. Playing at the club again seems like an impossible feat at this point, but Messi is determined to be back at the club at an executive level, as the technical secretary or something along those lines. The player has once again claimed in a recent interview that going back to Barcelona would be a dream for him.
The 34-year-old Argentine was forced to leave the club at the end of the season. Even though the Catalans did a lot of negotiations and Messi agreed to a 50 percent wage cut, the Catalans would still be breaking the wage cap placed by La Liga and with the inclusion of new players such as Sergio Aguero, Memphis Depay, and Eric Garcia, keeping Messi was no longer a possibility. Messi chose to go to Paris Saint-Germain because of the wage and because of his good friend, Neymar, however, in a recent interview with Sport, the player said he would love to be back at Barca. He said,
"“Yes. I always said that I would love to be able to help the club.”“I would love to be a technical secretary at some point. I don’t know if it will be at Barcelona or not. Or if it will be elsewhere.”“If there is a possibility, I would like to contribute again in what I can because it is the club that I love and I would love for it to continue to be good, to continue growing and to continue being one of the best in the world.”Source Goal via Sport"
Messi’s undying love for Barcelona is truly a symbol of loyalty and respect. He knows that the club did a lot for him and helped him reach the heights he is enjoying. He loves the players, the fans, and the family around the club and no president can take that away from him. We would definitely love to see Messi back at Barca, even if he is not playing on the field, we would love to see him in a position of power where he could still have influence on the club and help the club reach even bigger heights.
