One of the great things about football is it can bring everyone in the community together. Back in the Euros when Christian Eriksen had a cardiac arrest in the middle of a game, everyone in the footballing community came together to support the player and to support Denmark. This time, Sergio Aguero of Barcelona faced a similar plight when went down in the game against Deportivo Alaves. The 34-year-old striker was facing some breathing problems before he lay down on the pitch grabbing his chest. He was substituted then and there and later it was found out that he had cardiac arrhythmia and that he would be out for at least three months.

This was devastating news for the Catalan fans, as well as the team and the player. No one wants to lose a dynamic and clinical player such as Aguero; however, for now, they will have to do without him. Losing a teammate for a significant part of the season is never easy but it is also difficult for the player who is injured since he will feel as if he has let down the team. Recovery from a heart problem is also tricky so Aguero will need all the support he can get. Thankfully, his teammates are showing him that support, and last night Ansu Fati stole everyone’s heart by dedicating his goal to Aguero.

After scoring the only goal of the night against Dynamo Kyiv and keeping Barcelona’s Champions League journey alive, the 18-year-old ran up to the camera and did a celebration that was unique to Aguero. Fati paying tribute to one of his mentors was really heartwarming and it just shows you that there is more to life than just the game.

However, speaking of the game, Barca managed to get away with the win after a stunning strike from Fati but they need to assert more dominance in these easy games. They dominated possession as usual, however, turning that possession into something productive is something that the Catalans must learn. Hopefully, that problem will be solved after the arrival of Xavi Hernandez.
