Xavi Hernandez has a big task on his hand to try and fix Barcelona and help them attain a suitable position in the league and a decent finish in the UEFA Champions League. The Catalans are going through a transitional phase at the moment and with the loss of their greatest ever player, Lionel Messi, it will take a few seasons before they are on top of the world again. At the moment the Blaugrana are more of a mid-table team and although they do have top talents who can help them compete against top teams, they need to strengthen their squad and bring overall chemistry to the team.

In order to do so, they will need to bring in new players and Xavi had his mindset on Manchester City’s Ferran Torres. Torres is a brilliant player for his age and given the proper guidance, he would only go on to improve more. However, his current team knows his worth and although they are willing to let him go to Barca, they are not willing to sell him for a cheap price. Given Blaugrana’s current financial state, Torres might end up being a bit too expensive and thus they have kept their options open. According to Sport.es, one of the players they will try to get, in case they cannot secure Torres, is Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech. Ziyech is a top-quality star who does not start much for the Blues since Thomas Tuchel’s system does not really require a winger.

Ziyech is currently 28 years old and he does not want to waste his prime years sitting around at Stamford Bridge. He wants to be the protagonist and thus a move to Barca would be perfect for him. However, if the Copa del Rey winners miss out on Ziyech as well, they still have another person in line. That person being Chelsea’s Timo Werner. While Werner is not a winger, he could replace Memphis Depay as the number nine, and Depay could play as a winger. Werner is slowly finding his form back however, buying an out-of-form striker would be a gamble and thus, Barca would like to have Ziyech instead of Werner.

Should Barca consider signing Ziyech and Werner?
