With talks of Barcelona planning to sell some of their best players on the team, there are several candidates who should be a bit scared about losing their position. Reports from Spain in recent weeks have suggested that players like Frenkie de Jong and Marc-Andre ter Stegen are just some of the players Barca would be interested in moving on in order to bring more talented players into the team. Xavi Hernandez and Joan Laporta are reportedly not happy with the pairs’ recent performances and the team has been going in a downward spiral as well. Should the Catalans decide to sell these top players, they should also have proper replacements in mind, and in the case of Ter Stegen, it seems like they have already found a replacement.

The German goalkeeper used to be one of the best players in the world and he even gave good competition to his national teammate, Manuel Neuer, who is considered the best in the world. He was the steady keeper for Barcelona for half a decade but recently his performance has been lacking and there is a visible decrease in confidence. Last season he was one of the best players in the team and he saved his side on multiple occasions however, this time the Catalan keeper has managed to keep only three clean sheets in the league and three in the Champions League.

This kind of performance is not expected from Ter Stegen and there is a doubt that he has lost his form and his confidence completely. Xavi has already made him one of the expendables and now Ajax’s keeper, Andre Onana seems to be interested in joining Barca. In a recent interview with Sports, he expressed that he is still in contact with the Catalan side and that he has a good relationship with the club. The former La Masia player said,

"“Obviously. It is my home, and I grew up there. If it is Barça, it will be Barça.”“I know that one day I will play at the Camp Nou, but I’m not sure if it will be for or against Barça.”Source Sport"

The Ajax player seems to have kept a special place for Barca in his heart and this could benefit the club a lot. Not only will they get a younger goalkeeper, but they will also get a more passionate player. Ter Stegen is still considered as one of the best in the world so he will go for quite a bit of money and overall a deal with Ajax could be very beneficial for Barcelona.
