Ferran Torres on Xavi and what Barcelona gain from his arrival

Ferran Torres, who is now officially a Barcelona player, gave his first interview as a Catalan player to Barca TV. He spoke about a lot of things, on how he is going to impact the team, what are his positives, and also about the coach. The former Manchester City player was handpicked by Xavi Hernandez and the former Barcelona legend clearly saw something special within Torres. The player did not have a very good City career since Pep Guardiola had a ton of options upfront; however, his training under Guardiola reflected in his national team performance and Xavi knew that he was the one to solve Barca’s problems.

Torres in his first Barca interview talked about the club and how he is ready to give his hundred percent, but he also remembered to honor Xavi, the legend who trusted him. The Barca manager did have other choices such as Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner and both of those players were closely linked with the Catalan side, however, Xavi’s first choice was always Torres and thus the player showed his gratitude for the manager.

He said in the interview,

"“I already know about the career Xavi had as a player. It’s exquisite. Now as a coach he is just as good. He is just starting, but I know he is the kind of quality coach who can help me in my growth to get better and I am looking forward to being able to work with him.”"

Speaking about the club he said this is the team that will help him further his career and that he can help the club out, simultaneously as well. One of the main reasons why he moved to Barca was because the club showed real support for him and really wanted him to join them and that is something really important for him. He later pointed out that his versatility is one of the best things that he can offer Barca, as the manager can play him in any one of the three forward positions.
