It is no secret that Barcelona are having a tough time in their negotiations with Ousmane Dembele. The French international is obviously unhappy with the lower wages being offered by the Catalan side however, Barca cannot offer more than their budget since they need to bring in new players as well. Apart from that, the Catalans are still under a lot of debt and they must keep that in mind as well. Dembele however, is not willing to listen to reason and although Xavi Hernandez has made it clear that the former Borussia Dortmund player is one of his most important players, they might lose him on a free transfer in the summer.
This will be a huge blow for the Blaugrana, not only in terms of their squad strength but also financially. Barca bought the player from the Bundesliga side for an estimated fee of 105 million euros plus 40 million euros more via add-ons. Losing a player like that for free is a huge loss, however, they already have a player lined up who can replace Dembele.
Barcelona find Ousmane Dembele’s replacement in England
Former La Masia graduate and current Wolves star, Adama Traore, has been identified as a potential replacement by Xavi Hernandez and Joan Laporta. The 25-year-old winger might not be a world-class player however, he has a lot of positives going for him.
The player is one of the most physically gifted players in the world of modern football. His strength and his speed are second to none and although his goal-scoring is not up to the mark, he has the ability to play as a wing-back and that can be utilized by Xavi. He is also used to the Barca environment, having graduated from La Masia, so there will be no time wasted in settling down. The Catalans are on good terms with the player’s agent and the English side so they will be given more preference over any other club that may want to acquire the player. Currently, only Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the player and reports suggest that the Spurs are willing to pay around 22 million euros for the player.
