The defense will be one of the most crucial aspects of the upcoming game. Barca needs to have a solid defensive line since Madrid’s attack has been performing very consistently this season. Players like Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior have been playing on a different level recently and it will be very tough for the Catalans to keep up with their constant pressure. With Eden Hazard or Marco Asencio on the right-wing as well, Barca will need to keep their wings under check.

It would be wise to play Sergino Dest in this game since he has the pace to keep up with the likes of Junior whereas Jordi Alba can take the other wing and disrupt the out-of-form Hazard. Having said that, Xavi hasn’t been too impressed with Dest and could easily pick returning Dani Alves over him.

The centre has to be strong as well because Benzema only needs a tiny bit of space to score a goal. Ronald Araujo is recovering from a hand injury while Eric Garcia is out with a hamstring injury. This only leaves Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet, and Samuel Umtiti. However, since Pique and Lenglet have a better partnership, the duo will probably start over Umtiti.
