Speed more important than experience

On the pitch Dani Alves was the most experienced player by a longshot however, he was having a tough time keeping up with his man, Vinicius Junior, and in the end, it was Junior who managed to score while Alves looked on in dismay. This is not to say that Alves was outsmarted or outpaced by Vinicius on every single occasion, but more times than not, the Brazilian winger managed to get by his countryman. The Madrid youngster easily outpaced Alves and it was clearly evident that the 38-year-old was having a tough time on the pitch.

Apart from that, Sergio Busquets was at fault for the first goal. Barca, as usual, was the team with more possession and they were given a lot of room in the midfield. Busquets, Gavi, and Frenkie de Jong had a lot of time to think and then make the next move; however, the captain got a bit too complacent and in moments’ weakness, he was robbed off the ball and Madrid hit Barca via a vicious counterattack.

There was no reason why Barca should have conceded that goal; however, maybe it is time for Alves, Busquets, and Jordi Alba to make room for the current pacer generation. All three of these players had to play their hearts out tonight and the youngsters of Madrid took full advantage via their incredible pace.
