Well, it has been coming for a long time. Barcelona is well overdue for a new keeper and with Marc Andre Ter Stegen making a lot of avoidable mistakes this season, it is official that the Catalans will be going for a new keeper this year. Although the Catalans do have two extra keepers, Inaki Pena and Neto, neither of them are considered as a starter and thus, there is no point in keeping both of them at the club any longer. Andre Onana was one of the players whom Barca was linked with however, Inter Milan was quicker to make a move and thus Onana is no longer an option.

In the case of Neto, it will most likely be a permanent move away, whereas Pena will most probably have to do with a loan move. This is because Neto is getting too old to continue as a secondary keeper and he will never be Barca’s number one. Pena, who is a La Masia graduate, still has the ability to play for the main team one day and thus sending him out on a loan in January would be the best option. He can gain some experience and Barca will not have to pay his full wages.
