It is no secret that Barcelona is trying to get rid of as many of their players as they can. Anyone who does not have an impact on the first team or doesn’t play for the first team regularly can be sold or loaned. One such player is Sergino Dest, the player they brought in from Ajax to replace the failing Nelson Semedo. Dest took some time to settle down into his new scenario however, there was no question that he was in the future plans of Barca since the former coach, Ronald Koeman, had immense faith in the youngster.

All of that changed once Xavi Hernandez took over and Dest was soon out of favor. Dani Alves took his place and even in the most recent game against Real Madrid, Xavi trusted Alves over the young American. It is believed that neither Xavi nor Joan Laporta thinks that Dest is Barca material and even though they will most likely suffer a loss from selling him, they are ready to do so. According to reports, there are a few teams interested in the player, the most notable ones being Chelsea and Bayern Munich. The Blues are serious about buying the player and the Catalans have put a 17 million price tag on the player, which should not be a problem.

Like Barca, Chelsea is also going through a tough phase due to injuries. Several of their top players are out with either covid or other sort of injury. Most notably, both their main wing-backs, Ben Chilwell and Reece James are out at the moment and Thomas Tuchel wants someone to fill in that space. They tried to recall Emerson Palmieri however, Lyon is not looking to give him up. Thus, Dest is their next option and even if they have to buy the player, Tuchel will go for him if he finds his playstyle suitable for the club.
