With the 2021/22 season being at the halfway point, the talks about next season have already started. Most importantly, the transfers for next season has started. The winter transfer window is not really the one where the big players move from their clubs and thus Barcelona will have to wait till the summer transfer window before they can try to get some of their new world-class players. The number one player on Barca’s list at the moment is Erling Haaland and the president of the club, Joan Laporta, has confirmed that he will be going for the striker in the next transfer window.

However, although players like Haaland and Kylian Mbappe are sure to join new clubs next season, there are more than just one club interested in the players. In the case of Mbappe, it is pretty certain that Real Madrid will be his next club however, for Haaland he can go to Madrid, Barca, Manchester City, Chelsea, etc. He has a lot of options on his plate and every big team in the world wants the predatory striker. Right now, Barca might be the best option since the club will build the team around him and he will become sort of the next Lionel Messi of the club. However, calls from a certain club in England might change his plans.

Manchester City ready to compete with Barcelona for Erling Haaland

The club we are talking about is the notorious City. The Manchester-based club has been on a roll for the past few years under the guidance of Pep Guardiola. They have won 10 trophies under the Spanish coach and they are by far the best team in England at the moment. Barcelona is a project whereas City is already a solid team so Haaland will experience more instant success with the Sky Blues than with the Blaugrana. However, although Guardiola will try for the goal-scoring machine in the summer window, Haaland has expressed his views that he wants to join La Liga over the Premier League. Thus, Barca still has a very good chance although they will face stiff competition for their former manager’s side.
