The management at that time was desperate to bring in someone for Neymar and although they had Kylian Mbappe on the market as well, they chose to go for Dembele. He turned out to be a big disappointment and although he, as a player, has a lot of potential, his attitude and his injuries prevented him from achieving amazing things at Barca.

With four years and nothing to show for himself, it is fair to say that the Dembele project has failed. Now, the club must look at damage control and sell the player for whatever they can. Last season Manchester United were offering close to 100 million euros but Dembele refused to go. Now, it is a must to sell him. However, he might not want to go to the club that tries to buy him. Barca are trying everything they can to move him on but the French player could just decide to stay and collect his salary for six months without even playing another game for the club. The situation is quite ugly and Barca should make the player understand that his sale would benefit the club immensely.
