The way Barcelona are going about in this transfer window, it is evident that their main plan is to loan in players or bring in players who are running out of contracts. The club spent big money on former Manchester City star, Ferran Torres, and now they are looking to save some money in order to get the one player that they truly want. Barca wants Erling Haaland but they will have to fight for the player. Thus, it makes sense to not spend too much on other players at the moment and that is why Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta would be perfect for them.

In order to buy Haaland, not only will they have to not buy any other players, but they will also have to sell some players. One of the players who the club would like to get rid of soon is Sergino Dest. The player is not playing well, he is not being included in the team and the manager himself does not trust the player too much. Xavi Hernandez has instead been playing Dani Alves and he is already 38 years old. Selling Dest while bringing in Azpilicueta on a free transfer to replace him would be an absolute tactical genius by Barca.

Cesar Azpilicueta can be perfect for Barcelona

The Spanish player is 32 years old and has a couple of years of top football left in him. Like Jordi Alba, the Blue’s captain is a very hard worker and runs up and down the pitch the whole game. He has the ability to swing in some good crosses however, his main plus is his defensive work. The player is one of the best one on one defenders in the world and it is very hard to get past him. He is an old-school no-nonsense defender however, he can adapt to Xavi’s style since Thomas Tuchel also likes to build up the attack from the back. Azpilicueta would be a good fix to the right-back situation for now, at least until Barca can find a younger alternative.

Should Barca go all in for Azpilicueta?
