Barcelona need to sell Ousmane Dembele soon
Time is ticking for Barcelona on the Ousmane Dembele saga. The French player who has made it clear that he will not be staying at the club past this season is still one of the highest earners in the club and will cost the club a fortune if he is not sold immediately. Dembele was brought into the club for over 100 million euros but Barcelona is ready to accept any bid since the player’s contract runs out at the end of the season. The club tried to secure the player by offering him a new contract, however, his demands were too outrageous and a deal could not be finalized.
The player’s agent said that his client will not be taken advantage of by Barca however, Dembele said in a recent post that he is still obligated to the club and is willing to play his best on the pitch. He has refused to talk about the numbers and his demands which shows his hypocrisy however, none of this matters anymore and the only thing that truly matters is his sale. If the player leaves on a free transfer, not only will Barca lose a 100 million asset but will also have to pay his wages for the next six months. Xavi has made it clear that Dembele would be an important player if he decided to stay, however, with the player now confirming that he will leave, the manager will most probably not play him in the team anymore.
Barcelona were losing patience with Ousmane Dembele
With the transfer window closing soon, it is becoming increasingly difficult for Barca to sell the player. Clubs who are even interested in the player are ready to wait out till the end of the season and get him on a free transfer. The only thing that Barca could possibly do to avoid a complete financial loss on the player is to re-sign him by negotiating with him further. Xavi has already stated that he loves the player’s skills on the pitch and he would be an important player for the team. However, if Dembele does not decrease his ludicrous demands, there is no way he and the club can come to an agreement.
The latest rumor regarding any potential exit is that Chelsea could be the closest to making a deal happen but a 50 million euro price tag, according to RouteOneFootball, is making matters difficult.
