Chelsea will try their best to stop Barcelona from making this deal
Cesar Azpilicueta to Barcelona is almost as good as done according to former Chelsea player, Cesc Fabregas however, there could be a big problem that could mess up the whole deal. According to reports, Barca has been running for the player for the past couple of months and with the player’s contract running out, there was a huge possibility of the deal going through. The Catalans need a right-back to replace the aging Dani Alves and although the 32-year-old is not young himself, he is a good temporary fix for the ailing Sergino Dest.
Azpilicueta is the first Chelsea player to have won every trophy he could with the club and there is a reason for that. He is a no-nonsense practical defender who gives it his all in every game. He is one of the most trustworthy players on the London side and his leadership abilities are second to none. While he is a fullback on paper, he can easily move up and down the pitch and put in some solid deliveries into the box. Thus, it is not hard to see why the Catalans are keen on bringing him in. However, there is a big clause that could ruin everything.
Chelsea will try to stop Barcelona from signing their captain
According to a report from Marca, there is a unilateral clause in the Captain’s contract which can allow the club to extend his contract for two more years. The club has been negotiating with the player for a long time which suggests that they are not forcing him to stay at the club however, if required they could easily trigger that clause. Azpilicueta wants a new challenge in his life and he has already achieved everything he can with Chelsea. He is already a legend at the club and if they keep him against his will, that could spoil their relationship.
