Barcelona’s main problem last season was the defense. Although they were one of the highest-scoring teams in the league, their defense was new and neither Gerard Pique nor Clement Lenglet could offer much help to the young defenders. Still, there was hope since Barca was scoring a lot. However, that statement is not exactly true. You see, the main source of goals for Barca was coming from only one player and that was Lionel Messi. Once the Argentine left the club, their goals significantly reduced and with the lack of a proper striker, they have been suffering this season in front of the goal.

Their former striker, Luis Suarez, was one of the best in the world however, he was aging and thus the previous board wanted to remove him from the club. In his place a younger striker was being sought out however, they could not find such a striker. One player who was on their radar for a long time was Alexander Isak. The young player from Sweden was quite viable for Real Sociedad last season and he scored 17 goals in the league. However, he has been less than impressive this season. That could also be because of the lack of service and he could do much better in a better team.

Isak wants to keep Barcelona doors open

Barca has not let up their pursuit for the player and Isak has stated that he wants to wait for the Catalans to make their offer. Arsenal are very much invested in the player as well and Isak is well aware of that. However, he has stated that Barca is his main choice and he is willing to wait for their offer. His reasoning is that if the Spanish giants fail to secure Erling Haaland, then he might be their next target thus he is waiting, however, the Gunners are ready to swoop in and steal the player.
