Barcelona was trying to sign Andreas Christensen from Chelsea and it made a lot of sense. The Danish player has just entered his prime, he has been playing for a top team for a lot of years now, he has international experience and he is calm under pressure situations. He has grown a lot as a player since his early days in the English side and he would do a lot of good for Barca. However, a problem arose when Bayern Munich entered the race as well and now the Catalans must offer a better deal to the player or else the Germans will have him.

The main reason why Christensen would be Barca’s best option is that he is running out of a contract and will be a free agent by the end of the month. He has been in talks with the club, however, with new reports stating that even Bayern are interested in the player, many thought that he would be swayed easily by the German side. However, it seems as if Barca are still the forerunners in the race to sign him but their main problem still lies with Chelsea. The Blues will try to keep the player as well and in a recent interview, the player did say that staying at the club is a big possibility.

However, if the English side decides to pursue Jules Kounde instead, there would be no reason for keeping Christensen as well. Bayern wants the player since Niklas Sule is set to join Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season. While Barca is still the player’s top choice at the moment, the monetary power that the Bavarians have is more than the Catalans. Barca do have some alternatives set aside however, the Danish player would be the best fit and would be the most sensible, economically speaking.
