Barcelona: Xavi Hernandez praises new signings
Barcelona is going through a tough time right now and no one knows that better than former legend and current coach, Xavi Hernandez. The former midfielder was one of the greatest to ever play the game and he is considered as one of the most creative players the world has ever seen. He was brought in to manage his old club by Joan Laporta, the president of Barca, who also happened to be the president during Xavi’s era. When Xavi used to play, Barca was the best team in the world and that is where he strives to take the team again. However, for that he needs reinforcements and he is glad that he got some this winter.
The Catalans were one of the busiest sides in the winter transfer market, buying the likes of Ferran Torres, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Adama Traore. The manager knew that he had to change the front line as the existing one was not providing enough goals. The introduction of a true striker has helped a lot and with Adama’s pace on the wings, the team is starting to come together. Torres is a versatile player who has also been impressive however, his finish could improve a bit more.
Xavi is thrilled that Barcelona could manage to secure his targets
Xavi is delighted with his signings and he told reporters,
"“I don’t know what would have happened if they didn’t come. It would have been more difficult, that’s clear.”Source Goal"
He then went on to praise Aubameyang and Traore. He said that he expected the Gabonese striker to score goals because that is what he does for a living however, his work ethic and work rate surprised him. For Traore, his decision-making and maturity was a pleasant surprise. However, the main player Xavi has been impressed by is Torres. He said,
"“Ferran seems to me to be a footballer of another level. I asked for him. He is a spectacular player. He is a world-class footballer. Perhaps he is the one that has surprised me the most. I already expected it, but I can confirm it. He is a marvel of a soccer player.”"
Hopefully, the trio can keep up their good performances and with Pedri and Ousmane Dembele also getting into form, there is a good chance for Barca to end up with a trophy at the end of the season.
