Andreas Christensen move to Barcelona has been confirmed

It has finally been done. After months of speculation and reporting, the Andreas Christensen to Barcelona saga is finally over. According to respected journalist Gerard Moreno, the deal has been finalized and Christensen has agreed to play for the Catalans from next season onwards. The Chelsea player who has been with the club since his academy days will be a Barca player for sure from July. The Blues did try to keep the player, however, the player was ready to take the next step in his career and playing for Barcelona, one of the two biggest clubs in the world was his dream.

The 25-year-old has seen a lot of transformation and growth from his formative years at Chelsea and is now one of the best in his position. His performance in the Euro 2020 was good enough to warrant the move to Barca. His latest performance in the match against Lille just shows how solid of a defender he is. However, Chelsea has too much competition and he is never selected consistently by the manager. He needed this change in his life in order to prove that he is the best in the world and playing underneath Xavi Hernandez will surely benefit his career.

Barcelona beat rivals to secure Andreas Christensen

Barca had to overcome a lot of obstacles on the way and the biggest rivals for this player was in fact Bayern Munich. The Germans were looking to replace Niklas Sule who is on his way to Borussia Dortmund. While yes, the Germans probably offered more cash, the heritage and prestige of the Catalans attracted Christensen more. On top of that, the English club was also not ready to let him go however his time at the club is up and he can now work on a new journey in La Liga.
