Andreas Christensen moving ever closer to the Barcelona deal
The last time we covered this topic, we discussed that Andreas Christensen is moving further away from the Barcelona deal. However, now we have learnt via Sport that Barca is his main destination. The 25-year-old is looking for a move away from Chelsea because he cannot negotiate a contract with his current club. The blues have been trying to keep him at the club however, things are not working out and with the new Ukraine and Russia issue, it seems as if the player wants to distance himself from the club. While Bayern Munich also desired the player Barca remains his main goal.
The Catalans did try to acquire him a couple of years ago however the blues were not ready to let them go then. His contract is expiring soon and Barca has been negotiating a four-year contract with the player for quite a while now. It could be just a matter of weeks before the club releases a statement on the player however, Christensen did mention that he is still not certain about his future. The main advantage of joining Barcelona would be that he would be playing first-team football constantly. At Chelsea, he has a lot of competition but for Barca, he would be the main man.
Barcelona near the signing of Andreas Christensen
He would be a great addition to the team both on the pitch and financially. Coming on a free transfer would mean that it would not be breaching FFP rules and Barca would save money as well. However, the club needs to look out for alternatives in case things do not go their way. The Catalans have already identified Matthijs de Ligt and Kalidou Koulibaly as their secondary options however, both of them would cost quite a bit and thus Christensen would be their only sensible option. If Barca manages to get the player, it would be a huge positive for the club however, even if they do not get the player, they could make the best use out of Oscar Mingueza.
Will Andreas Christensen be a good fit for Barcelona?
