Once named as the future face of the club. Riqui Puig, will surely look for any method to get out of Barcelona. The player was once considered one of the most technical players to have ever graduated from the La Masia academy. The same famed academy which made players like Xavi Herandez, Andres Iniesta, and Lionel Messi, claimed that Puig was one of their top players. He did have some stellar performance however, once Ronald Koeman came in, his playtime was reduced and the Dutch manager even told him to find a club to go out on loan to.

Koeman wanted to use the player however, he wanted to develop him first. The player, however, did not want to leave Barca and he decided that he would stay and fight for his place at the club. That did not work out for him since he only started four times in all competitions last season. The Dutch manager was obviously not pleased with the player’s performances and he even said that the player was not putting in enough effort during training sessions. Puig still stuck around in Barca and hoped that his luck would change once it was announced that Xavi Hernandez would be taking over Koeman’s role.

Riqui Puig is struggling to find minutes at Barcelona

Hernandez wants to build the club up from the ground and this means putting in a lot of time with the youths of the club. Puig is talented and thus many thought that the player would be given a second chance by the new manager however, even Xavi has not been impressed with Puig enough to give him a start. He has in fact only made 13 appearances in all competitions this season and it is becoming obvious that he is not required at the club. It would be wise for him to move on since he cannot afford to waste his formative years on the bench. He is a good player who is about to enter his prime and move away would suit his career the best.
