Why did Barcelona sign this youngster for 20 million euros
Barcelona is a club that is always looking for young talents who they can convert into superstars. Most of the current Barca squad members are youngsters who have benefitted a lot under the Barca training and management systems. Players such as Pedri, Ronald Araujo, Ansu Fati and Gavi are all considered as future world-class players and they do a lot for the team right now as well. However, this might have not been the case had they not been affiliated with the Catalan side. Barca has a tremendous academy and knows how to raise a young star, thus, it is no surprise that they have just signed another youngster who can make it all the way to the top.
Pablo Torre, the 18-year-old youngster from Racing who was being pursued by both Barca and Real Madrid, ended up coming to the Blaugrana since he understood that this club has a history of making players and Real on the other hand is more invested in buying already made players. While the initial deal for the player was just 5 million euros, the deal can go above 20 million euros depending upon the player’s performance. He will be playing for the B team from next season onwards but why did the Catalans make such a big bid on a relatively unknown youth?
Why Barcelona bought Pablo Torre?
Well, to answer that question, one only needs to look at how the player is playing in the third tier of Spanish football. He has amazing ball-carrying ability however, he is not selfish and distributes the ball evenly. He also has a devastating shot but he is mature enough to understand that he does not have to shoot all the time. He is also a hard worker and since he plays in the middle of the field, he can be found in the backlines doing defensive duties as well. This is an investment for Barca, they have already put a 100 million euros release clause on the player which shows that they are serious about his development. While we might not see him in the main team for a couple of seasons, if he manages to impress Xavi, his move to the main team could be fast-tracked.
