Barcelona has made one thing very clear, they want a superstar transfer in the summer transfer window. The Catalan’s president, Joan Laporta, made a statement towards the end of last year where he said that he was ready to spend money in order to bring in new players for Xavi Hernandez. He went through with his promise after he allowed the sale of Ferran Torres and also managed to bring in Pierre Emerick Aubameyang for free. Adama Traore was also brought in from Wolves on a loan deal. However, next season a real world-class player will be brought in but who will that player be is the question.

The player that really interested Laporta was Erling Haaland. The president was obsessed with the player during his campaign run and he is still willing to bring him to the club. He has talked to Haaland’s agent several times and even though Barca is not in a good financial position, Mino Raiola being Haaland’s agent is a huge plus for Barca. The Catalan president has a good relationship with Raiola and both of them are pushing for the deal to be completed. However, Laporta must also keep a few other alternatives if the plan falls apart and apparently Mohamed Salah is his second choice.

Barcelona has recognized Mohamed Salah as their second choice for the summer

According to reports from AS, the Egyptian king is Laporta’s target because the player has been having some difficulties in extending his contract with Liverpool. Recent reports have suggested that the Red’s ace player has rejected their latest offer as he was not happy with the terms being offered to him. It was also mentioned that while Liverpool remains Salah’s first choice, he would look for other clubs if a successful negotiation is not possible.

Salah’s contract will expire next year and if the Merseyside team cannot come to an agreement with him, they would try to sell him as he is valued a lot. Barca could try to move in for the player but they should not spend too much on the player since he is already 29 years old.
