Barcelona Vs Real Madrid: Three things to look out for in El Clasico
1) The amazing midfield battle
While both the teams, Barcelona and Madrid, will try their best to get the win, at the end of the day the main game will be played in the midfield. Right now, the Catalans and Madristas have two of the most talented midfielders in world football however, their generations are different. While Barca have the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Sergio Busquets, Riqui Puig, etc, on their side, Los Blancos have Toni Kross, Luka Modric and Carlos Casemiro on theirs. The Blaugrana have more youngsters on their side while Madrid has more experience. Sure, the Catalans can probably show more energy due to their age but Modric and Kross are generational talents.
This will truly be a battle of the generations where the old midfielders will take on their younger counterparts and try to get the best out of them. The problem is that Pedri and De Jong have been playing on a different level lately and it does not seem like any team can match their creativity. In the match against Galatasaray, it took them less than 10 minutes to break through the stubborn Turkish defence and if De Jong managed to keep his cool, he would have scored as well.
However, the point remains that Barca’s midfield is young, passionate and creative. On the other hand, Modric in the match against PSG showed us that he can still run the show and even at this age he is one of the best. The former Ballon d’Or winner is like an eagle who can locate the finest of spaces and put the ball through there. He was a menace in the Supercopa and hopefully, the midfield will be able to handle him better this time. Kross is another player who has the ability to score from anywhere on the pitch and thus he will need to be kept under check as well.
