Last night Barcelona not only sent a message to all the European elites doubting them but to all the top players as well. Barcelona is still a top team and they are waiting to get back into the midst of it all and fight for every trophy available. Many thought that the Catalans would take at least a few years to recover and rebuild but it seems like Xavi Hernandez is truly a magician as he has managed to change the club in under one season. Now, players like Erling Haaland and Noussair Mazraoui are more likely to join their side.

When it comes to choosing a new club, a player has to take a lot of things into consideration. Yes, money is definitely a big part of that decision but also the club’s heritage, prestige and the ability to win trophies also play a big part in the decision making. One of the biggest players in the world is going to make that decision soon and for a long time, it was thought that he would go to Barca. Haaland was supposed to go to Barca while Madrid was supposed to pick up Kylian Mbappe. However, recent articles claimed that the Los Blancos were gonna try for Haaland and that even Manchester City had a contract ready for the player.

Haaland’s spokesman comments on Barcelona’s incredible victory over Madrid

This was a tough pill to swallow as a Barca fan because it is no secret that the Catalans do not have the financial powers necessary to fight off City and Real. However, after the 4-0 thrashing, Haaland’s spokesperson, Jan Aage Fjortoft, tweeted,

“What a result for Barca!!!! Xavi!!! And @Auba !!!! #Respect”

While this may be just a personal remark, it could also show us that the Haaland family is leaning towards Barca. The player’s agent has already mentioned that the Norwegian striker is not looking for money and Mino Raiola has a good relationship with Joan Laporta. These are all good signs for the club and if they can manage to finish the season in a strong fashion, then the chances of Haaland joining the Catalans will increase even further.
