Franck Kessie to Barcelona has finally been confirmed and after months of tension and insecurity, the Catalans have managed to secure their first target for next season. The Catalan side expressed their desire to sign Kessie a couple of months prior and ever since then, there have been a lot of rumours and a lot of negotiations. The main problem in their way were the other teams that were interested in signing the defensive midfielder. Kessie already made it clear that he was not going to stay at AC Milan however, interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United made his decision tougher.

The reason why Barca are going for the player is because of Sergio Busquets‘ age. The once world-class defensive midfielder is no longer the same and he has degraded naturally with his age. The player is Barca legend but age affects everybody and he is no longer the player that he used to be. Sure, he still provides above-average performances most of the time however, the Blaugrana must think about the future as well. Today, in a tweet transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, confirmed the Milan man’s move to Barca and even gave us the number of years he will be with the Catalans.

According to Romano, the player from Ivory Coast will be earning a net salary of 6.5 million euros over the span of four years. This seems like a good deal for the Catalans and we cannot wait to see him in action. Not only is he a great defensive midfielder but he can also play in a more advanced position which makes him very versatile. He has the vision to give some great passes upfront and he has scored a few goals as well. Now that he has been confirmed, a big weight has been lifted off of Busquet’s shoulders.
