Barcelona: Pedri’s success is somehow related to Real Madrid
Barcelona has a lot of youngsters at the moment and although a lot of them seem promising, none of them has managed to shine as much as Pedri. The 19-year-old cheery Spaniard join the Catalans from Las Palmas in 2020 and although it took him some time before he was up and running, once his talent was discovered, he quickly became a part of the main team. The Catalans were in a tough spot that season, financially speaking, and Ronald Koeman, their former manager, had to work with what he had. Thankfully, he saw Pedri’s potential and helped him reach the heights where he is today.
Barcelona star, Pedri, talks about his trials at Real Madrid
The Spanish youngster as mentioned before was at Las Palmas, but he had bigger ambitions. The player knew that he was good enough to break into one of the elite teams in Spain and that is why he tried out for Real Madrid. However, he was brutally rejected by Los Blancos and that made Pedri try even harder in his Barca trials. In a recent interview with Marca he said,
"“I went there and the first few days I couldn’t train because there was snow in the fields. I trained for three days.”“They told me that I had no level to be there and that they were going to continue to look for other players”_Marca"
He went on to say that he was not used to rejections and that he did not take the Madrid rejection well. He was quite disappointed but not disheartened. He was never going to quit and instead, he tried out for their direct rival, played alongside Lionel Messi, won the Golden Boy award and won 4-0 against Los Blancos.
He went on to say that he never did meet the man who said he was not good enough at Madrid, but if he ever does meet the fellow, he will tell the man that he is very happy at Barcelona.
