Transfer specialist, Fabrizio Romano, recently stated that Barcelona had managed to secure their long term target, Franck Kessie. The Ivory Coast midfielder from AC Milan was being scouted by a lot of clubs but at the end of the day, the Catalans managed to grab him. He will be a free agent at the end of the season so his signing is economically sensible as well. Barca is looking for financially sensible transfers and thus they are thoroughly scouting the free agents market. However, what is not cheap is the salary of these players and to accommodate their wages, they need to let go of some players.

Barcelona to let go of this star in order to bring in Franck Kessie

According to Romano, the Catalans have decided to offer an annual wage of six million euros to Franck Kessie. Now, this can be presumed as the base salary and not the actual salary with other bonuses. To maintain the wage cap, Barca will need to sell a player and Kessie will directly replace him. At the moment the only player who fits the description looks to be Riqui Puig. The midfielder is not played regularly unlike other players and although Sergio Busquets would be the ideal option, Xavi Hernandez would still like to keep the veteran for a few more years.

This is not entirely a bad deal for Puig and he might not be sold either. He could be sent out on a loan which will decrease the amount of salary the club has to pay him and he would be gaining some valuable experience as well. Apart from Puig, Sergio Busquets could also be sold to accommodate the incoming player. Neither of these two players are in Xavi’s immediate plans and Barca must get rid of all the deadwood.
